Tsukiji Market Before It Closed
I went to the Tsukiji Fish Market on Saturday morning at 9am which was very late. Usually if you want to buy high quality fish, most people go thereat 5–6am. It was an extremely big market place as you can see from the picture above. Most of the people here are buying for their restaurant to sell to customers later and of course some people come here to buy food for themselves/family.
I think I must have walked almost half a mile from one end to the other. They had huge pieces of fish. My Japanese friend was looking for a very big piece of Tuna which they usually use the huge swords as you can see below to cut the fish. You might be lucky enough to see some cutting action, unless you can’t stand the sight of blood.
They had a variety of fishes alive or dead including baby lobsters, salmon, maguro, etc. All fishes were as fresh as possible and caught this morning (few hours ago). As soon as they have sold everything, they close down. (usually around noon)
