My Favorite Japanese Comedian
If you know comedians in Japan, you probably already heard of him.
He is a favorite with many kids and adults and his name is Hollywood Zakoshisho. (Hollywood small fry/nobody’s master). Zako (雑魚) is a derogatory term to describe weaklings. You can think of a game where you fight all those weak enemies before reaching the main boss. Zako in this case are those enemies weak enemies.
Under Sony Music Artist management, he often appears on famous tv shows such as Monitering, Suiyobi no Downtown, etc.
The reason of his success was mainly due to winning the R-1 Grandprix which is the most famous Japanese comedian championship.
I personally started liking him one year ago when he appeared on one of the most famous Japanese comedian Matsumoto Hitoshi’s Amazon Prime special called “Documental”.
This show is basically another championship where comedians have 3 lives and if they make the other person laugh they lose one life.
It isn’t as easy as you would expect because many comedians laugh at their own jokes.
Definitely a great show to watch for those who have intermediate-advanced Japanese language skills.
Jokes
Hollywood Zakoshisho uses jokes called “ものまね” and it is basically mimicking other famous people.
