You may save up to 800 dollars, should you decide not to use a moving company. Unfortunately, not all people can do this. Some apartments require you to use a specific moving company to move. One of my friends apparently had to pay almost 1,000 dollars in order to move all of her stuff. The reason for this is that these expensive companies ensure the apartment owner that nothing is damaged when things enter and leave the apartment. Especially with all of these small apartment rooms, it is extremely easy to scratch your wall when lifting your bed or refrigerator around a tight corner.
Rent a Car
You need someone to drive. Ask for a friend or possibly a coworker to help you move. Depending on what type of car you rent, it should cost you about 20,000 yen. (200 dollars) This is for 8 hours and for a light truck using Nippon Ren A Car. (kei toraku – 軽トラック) Things you might want to consider getting when you rent your car are if you need a hand truck or rope. These trucks have places you can tie your rope with in the trunk for big and heavy things like refrigerators, beds, and sofas.
