Japanese Training Camp with Japanese Elite Students (Keio University) Gasshuku
I joined a dance circle that is called Revolve which has over 200 students. This club also known as a circle in Japanese, has many different types of dances including breakdancing, popping, hip hop, jazz, etc. I however, joined the breakdancing part of this club.
Towards the beginning of the year, you club will invite you to Gasshuku which is like a training camp. When I was in revolve, they made us go to Shizuoka which is close to Mount Fuji.
There were over 150 people who attended this event and I heard that there were over 80 freshmen who attended this event. They had different periods (total of 4) and during each period, there were two dances that were taught. If you wanted to attend both of them then it would have been impossible =( They taught us the basics for each dance and at the end of the event, we performed for everybody in Revolve. I decided to try to learn popping and breakdancing during this event.
We had to share our rooms with at least 4 or 5 other people.
There were two big dance rooms that were each used during each session. Fortunately, the room was big enough for even some dancers who just wanted to practice whatever they wanted.
